They were originally entered as Campos Meta, owned by Adrián Campos however, due to financial difficulties, Campos had sold the team to Colin Kolles, and the team was renamed Hispania Racing Team.
The team first entered the sport in 2010 along with Lotus Racing, Virgin Racing, and USF1.
